Help Wanted

I need a VPS without cPanel. I am vision impaired and cannot see cPanel (and it uses most of the memory!). BUT I need someone to install MySQL, perl, PHP, and Apache and configure Apache for me. My disabilities prevent me from doing all of this myself and I cannot afford to hire a server admin for a little VPS with one site, one database and no income. I had a VPS for ten years but it became obsolete and was hacked all the time; I've tried one host and it was a disaster - they were insulting and offensive. I just want to deal with nice people and get a little VPS set-up that I can put my site on. Is that too much to ask?

Assuming the request is legit, seems like a good opportunity for someone to earn some good samaritan points... though of course you can't make an offer over there :)

  • Get a VPS and install centos web panel. The panel is free.

That the main thing I hate about WHT - They have a forum to request hosting, to which you cant post offers....

I don't understand people asking for free help. You will receive the support which you pay for.
This guy obviously need web hosting. Why always VPS.

    @sleddog

if you get a vps, or need my help, i can and then if you need help, i can manage it for free...

do let me know or PM me....

  • Thats what I said. http://centos-webpanel.com/ its free panel and more or like cpanel. So you will find management of your VPS much easier to do.

That doesn't look like it will be good with a screen reader, but however the user intends to interact, he did say he was vision impaired and you may have missed that. :)

  • Actually I did read it but forgot to mention something. We do offer free support for our VPS when its installed with Centos-Web Panel (https://blog.bullten.com/free-managed-support-with-centos-web-panel/). So one doesnt need to spend extra for server admin.

Simply go ahead with either of these:
    ServerPilot
    Commando.io
    ECmanaged

All of these are hosted on either DigitalOcean or Amazon EC & looks solid. Anyway you can also use Centminmod (RECOMMENDED if you can fire those few commands). Regarding security simply change SSH port & disable SSH password authorization so you would be 95% secured.

  • @sleddog I do not believe a vps is needed, free shared hosting with cPanel should do just fine, only 1 site anyways. PM me, get a free account, thanks.

  • It's not me, I was reposting from WHT. A few of you got it :)

That's my favourite at the moment; there's even a WHMCS module that a thirdparty has created at about £12/year
