Meh. There's a lot more to Amazon than just the compute they offer. The supporting products win hands down every single time. Plus for performance- it's provisioned past the t2 series, so if you want insane performance, then configure and pick the right instance.

Their GPU instances are most interesting to me. That's one of those few things you just can't get from most others.

Lightsail offers are charged on a monthly basis depending on which plan you purchased. While the monthly subscription charge could be covered by the promo credits pool, the initial activation fee (first month's subscription charge) has to be paid via credit card.

I see you have plenty credits available to you, however, none of these covers Amazon Lightsail offer. It is with this in mind that I was able to advocate for a special $100.00 promo, which I've already added to your account especially dedicated to your lightsail testing!! You can view the same here:

I wonder if new promotional credits will have Lightsail on the coverage list, or if it'll be its own separate promos.

Edit: Ha, they actually gave me $200 in Lightsail credits....but only until the end of Jan to use them. http://i.imgur.com/0YFbx0R.png

  • I like this thread. I agree with what some have said in term of Enterprise Image and Word of Mouth. In the Enterprise world is just better to go with the mainstream... What is the mainstream? Azure, Amazon and Google. Big names maintain your job secure. Plus there is always more support people for it, more local specialists.

In case of something failing, let's say one hypervisor go down in Azure and it affected you somehow, that's Microsoft problem. Any fault is redirected to Microsoft. But of course you assist with the AWESOME recovery and disaster plan you developed as the main System's Engineer or Admin.

Amazon has drones. Does DO or Vultr have drones? Maybe.

Do they carry a lethal dose of Twilight hardcover bombs? No!

You ain't no mess with Amazon, yo!

  • Network throughput gets capped at 3.6MB/sec amazingly fast! :o

  • Lightsail works fine for me with a small multisite setup using Plesk Onyx as the panel. Of course Im not trying to push "iso's" around all day etc or house big image backups either. Just some basic biz sites.
