I would do DNS servers myself if I need some Geo-based DNS or Round-robin. Two 128MB tiny boxes would suffice...
Yea, do it yourself, it's easy enough. I would recommend powerdns.
If a dollar a month is cheap, AWS Route 53
Pretty simple to do yourself with a service like PowerDNS if you wanted to buy a couple of different budget VMs in different locations. If you were looking for a DNS service, I'd recommend no-ip
buyvm.net provides free anycast network, which would be great for running GeoDNS.
Certainly much cheaper than getting your own IP space, ASN, and announcing yourself.
