    Yeah, they sent out an advisory last night, seems like they dealt with it pretty quickly/easily though.

    My httpzoom VPS (OpenVZ Node 1) is up.

  • My VPS went "Online<==>Offline" few times automagically over the last 48 hour. Unfortunately support is quite unresponsive. 12+ hour response time seems too horrible even on LEB standard.

    I would bet that the node is being hit by DDOS and its being auto null routed for short periods of time. Just be patient, they are probably working to resolve the issue. I am sure they will get back to you as soon as they can get things resolved.

    That ticket was dated back in 13 April. I don't really mind if there's some problem but I'm quite unhappy with the time taken for them to reply to the ticket.

    Relax. From my knowledge they're quite a professional team. Although it is odd they haven't responded to your ticket in so long but don't immediately bash them over it (wait until this all settles down).

  • Yeah, they also have heavy filters on their tickets as I found out. I didn't get a response for almost 2 weeks. They are a great team, but need to work on their support.

    If you're on Node 3, you should have received this mail as well:

    Hey Freek,

    Over the past week our hardware has been problems on node3.

    Originally this was thought to be a memory issue, however after further investigation it appears to be a voltage issue on the chassis itself. In order to quickly resolve this error we are going to be doing emergency maintenance starting at 9pm and this may result in 1-2 hours down time should we need to completely replace the chassis.

    There should be now disruption of data held on the VPS' and should this take longer than 2 hours we will issue a further update.

    We greatly apologise for this issue and have choosen to do this at 9pm on a Sunday to try minimise disruption.

    We are still working on the issues and updating via the network status page.

    @bigcat we do not have any outstanding tickets and we do keep on top of tickets constantly, as well as updating the network status page.

    Almost 20 hours outage instead of the 1-2 hours that was estimated....
    Do you own your equipment?

  • @freek - Agreed. 20 hours down really puts a hamper on things for me, it was down right when I needed it.

    @Freek, owning our equipment or not will not make a difference in this situation. Unfortunately the hardware was unstable and we had it replaced, once we had the server back a kernel panic resulted in some data issues which required an fsck.

    Unfortunately there is no quick way of speeding up an fsck.

    There have been some further issues after the fsck which we are looking into. If anyone would like a refund they can contact [email protected] and this can be arranged.

    Should currently be online and functioning normally.

    Also, this might be a noob question, how can a chassis be causing problems? You mean the PSU or something?

    Basically, you buy the chassis which contains the PSU & Motherboard and all the bays etc. It's not common for providers who colocate to buy shells & install mobo's and PSU's in them unless they're to replace or upgrade existing parts.

    Well technically that's barebone commonly not a chassis.

    @freek we own equipment within our parent brand, however this node was not one of them. With the deal with have with the datacentre we can guarantee new parts and labour quicker for our rented hardware than we can for our colocated hardware which actually makes more sense for the HTTP Zoom servers.

    The chassis was showing issues when diagnostics were run, including Memory problems and voltage (PSU) problems.
