Good idea to setup VNC/RDP server when KVM over IP not available?

Hello,

wanted to ask if it is good idea to have vncserver or other RDP like x2go (installation 1, installation 2) running as a backup way to access server beside SSH.

And how to protect vnc/rdp server from bruteforce and such attacks/abuse?
Using only non root login and strong password not enough? any fail2ban or iptables rule?

Comments

  • if ssh is down, vnc will probably be down anyway. not OOB

    Run nginx infront of it...

And your whole philosophy is wrong...

Ssh is the backup for vnc ...not the otherway round :-)
