Review: Inception Hosting

edited April 2013 in Reviews

Summery:

------------ Host inceptionhosting.com is great

We can't complain.

Key Points of Host:

  • Pre-sales was informative and knowledgeable
  • Pre-sales was quick to reply and friendly
  • Support was informative and knowledgeable
  • Support was quick to reply and friendly
  • Service was stable (good up time)
  • Low ping time
  • Zero packet loss

My expectations:

  • Reasonable server load (not perfect, but reasonable)
  • Easy access to control panel (and / or SSH)
  • Quick and friendly customer service
  • Customer service which will resolve issues (or at least make a valid attempt & not brush me off with a "script" response)
  • An agreeable Terms of Service for possible mild adult content (limited, not porn)
  • An acceptable budget
  • Able to save small attachments on file server, rather then having them be stored in MySQL. Thus improving site load time, back ups, and less server resources.

My current resources:

  • 1 Database (MySQL) (1 more is optional for test site)
  • Space currently using: -- 2 GB
  • Current monthly bandwidth: -- 23 GB

Currently using:

  • IPB with only 150 active members
  • Optimizer to prevent & lower resource use on MySQL & PHP (over all lower server resources) & improve load time.
  • Manually backing up using FTP & MySQL Dumper

Full Commentary Review:

This is how hosting should be... No fuss, no worries. Our order was fulfilled almost automatically, we were able to upload all our files without issue (fast), and configure what we needed. We contacted support only once (general question) and they had a reply within minutes.

I think my summery about covers most of everything, but I'll be willing to answer questions upon request

Might help others if you let them know which location/plan you went for.

  • So essentially you copy and pasted your review for CVPS yesterday (changing a few words to make it positive of course) :)

But yes, put it this way, CVPS is like a bus, it is cheap and spacious but you are sharing it with lots of people. Inception is like a taxi, a little more expensive (still affordable) but for sure @AnthonySmith is a great guy.

I do seem to reuse the basic layout of my reviews. It makes them clear and easy to read.

I don't believe price is a factor... Paying more or less does not guarantee quality.

I've paid more from others and got less, while paying less and getting more. The other way is also true.

Nope. VPS2048 (2GB Ram) is what was needed.

I don't think OP is that familiar with server configurations so probably having a bigger server is better for him.

  • Yep, I have 2 servers with IH and can +1 to

This. You must not forget the client base is different at CVPS; I guess a comparison to a bus is pretty good. CVPS hosts a heck of a lot more customers, and this is why support will be better at smaller hosts. Both are still unmanaged, but Anthony will probably still offer more help than CVPS ever would.

Or the OP (me) is very good at configuring his server and uses it for other things. And it really does need 2Gb or Ram. :-P

  • QUESTION: What was the support question(s) you asked from Inception?

Answer: The support question I had asked, Inception Hosting was if their dedicated server / node was behind a firewall and if so, what ports do they prevent, if any.

please no pm's about reviews. thanks.

2GB is overkill for forum with just 150 active users.

You are a 1 man review army haha, thanks though, appreciated.

Not sure I know which customer you are and I don't seem to remember that support question (it would probably be sad if I did remember every one) but thanks all the same.

No doubt, I am setting up nodes 13 and 14 this month, iirc correctly CVPS have 40 - 50 nodes, but I suppose support staff to clients ratio might not be too dissimilar.

No, thank you for providing good service :)

Don't worry about remembering me... Just know that we're happy with the services provided.

I actually do have a few other reviews to post, but I think I'll hold off for a while (just wrapped up my review for Soft Layer, but didn't post it here on this site because I'm not sure if it fits here)

  • @budingyun said: 2GB is overkill for forum with just 150 active users.

You're assuming that is all I have. The forum is the primary, but not exclusive.

However the case... I'm happy with the services provided by Inception Hosting

  • @CVPS_Chris Nice Chris! Last time I saw was 150+ per Kevin.
