DDoS protected VPS as load balancer

I am building a chat application which needs web socket connection. Will be needing a DDoS protected VPS for protecting the Real IP (Will be on GCP/AWS probably). It has two be VPS for these reasons:-
1) Use nginx/HAproxy as load balancer with fail2ban if an attack is detected
2) Pass the real IP has custom header to application
3) Terminate and re-encrypt wss traffic(may be with self signed certificate, as I control both servers)

My primary thought was to go with BuyVM, but I may exhaust the bandwidth. So I am thinking of using OVH as it provides unlimited bandwidth, but have heard its not good for production use case. Please provide your suggestions,

P.S: I may need this only after a couple of months, before I need to set this up, but I prefer to be prepared.

you can go with ovh and make some tests, their protections is good, but some times, they go down, have a look at reliableservers.com

How much bandwith do you need?

We are developing a consumer application and haven't gone live yet. Since it's a consumer app, it's not predictable at present and depends on how popular our app gets.

So to be on safer side, was looking at unmetered VPS. And with BuyVM going unmetered, looks like I am sorted.
