VPS for Browsing using Squid Proxy

Hi, I need a VPS to run only Squid Proxy and then 10-15 users navigate through that proxy. I think that dont need much CPU or RAM, but Im not 100% sure.

Im looking for a cheap 1Gb RAM VPS, I think that will be ok, Anual plan.

Any coupon or offer?

Those specs can easily handle that load. I don't foresee any issues.
Look in the offers section, would be an obvious first place to look.

  • I saw that section first, obviously ;)

  • What is your budget? And do you have any location preference?

    P.S Welcome to LET!

  • A few years back I did exactly this on a Pentium 1 with 24MB RAM and 2GB HDD. You do not need so much computing power for just 15 users.

  • 256-512mb ram might be enough for your needs

  • I honestly think this can be done on a Raspberry Pi, I do not have time to test it though. In theory, it should work great for 15 users.

Did you have any specific location in mind @NANO?

I prefer USA for speed, but I can use any location in the world.

  • Hi @NANO,

How about a KVM? We have a monthly 1GB for $4.99/month in LA. If you need less ram, we have a yearly offer in there as well. Mention the sig in your order and we'll give in $2 credit. Please let me know if you have any questions :)

  • Just please enable authorization because I can't believe all the people who "share" an account that has no authorization and somebody does something bad on it

It will work great as long as you don't try to conserve host bandwidth with caching.
SSLBump for multiple users won't work very fast on Raspberry.
