  • @Kiowa Just got my server provisioned, and it's looking brand new. They even added an identical disk for free.

Can't beat that price / performance ratio ;-)

  • @Damian I might be colo someday, but not in the cards for now. Thanks though.

@SpecialRDP I've placed an order with Tier, but I'll contact you if they end up not having the hardware available or something.

@FredQc Looks great. I really wonder how they pulled off that package at this price. Hopefully they aren't digging themselves a deep hole of debt...

That's... an interesting benchmark, other benchmarks I looked at showed that the 1270v5 closed the gap between E3s and the i7s significantly. Though the i7 still won out.

OTOH, the benchmark @FredQc linked shows the E3 having better memory performance in at least that specific configuration, which is nice for me.

All that said, I think I am going to try Tier. Might be a 'too good to be true' host, but if they don't work out, I'll be going with OVH. Thank you everyone that stopped in.

did you ever order from Tier? What has your experience been like?

  • You mean the exact one from the OP.

  • ovh game servers use a p90m motherboard, which only support older cpu's graphics. The i7 will work, but anything that uses 3d graphics would be usless.
