Lowendapp.com - Useful Apps

Hi All,

Few days back I had posted the "LowEndTalk Android App - RSS Feed Reader" at http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/233129 and based on the suggestion of @HalfEatenPie I have created a website named as http://lowendapp.com/ -- currently this contains the first app as LowEndTalk Android App - RSS Feed Reader. This is a very simple and easy RSS reader for LowEndTalk considering few points --

1) It uses http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussions/feed.rss as the feed
2) Basic functionality with easy browsing of feeds
3) You can click the topic to expand it
4) I tried to keep the look and feel the same as lowendtalk.com, as our eyes are pretty much adjusted to this color :)

Future Ideas --

We can use the site http://lowendapp.com/ to upload all useful Apps related to LEB/LET created by the users something like Vpsmon, SolusVm Controller and many more..
This way we can have a single repository of all the apps created by the community users in single place and it will be easy to browse and download the apps.
App can be a WebApp or a Mobile App (Android/iOS).

Do let me know your thoughts or any kind of feedback/suggestions you have.

Thanks

  • Cool, but, why not just use the Mobile version of Vanilla, where we can actually reply to conversations?

  • Awesome @fresher_06! I'll definitely try this later on my tablet once it gets ready!

    blite.ca

  • I do not have an Android device handy to test it out. Would like to know what the info icon reveals when touched.

Also, does it allow me focus on some category posts?

That is a cool blog platform but may not be suited where high traffic is expected due to the use of SQLite. By the way, the first link on your signature returns 500 at the moment.

are you talking bout the bitly link .. then please ignore that link .. as now the download link mention in the site http://lowendapp.com is the final link ..

  • @fresher_06 that particular message was meant for @jcaleb

@fresher_06 i have two other questions for you in one above post.

But blog is usually just reads right? But maybe doug is the best person to answer.

Yes, too lazy to take care of my blog. too much on my plate lately =) Thanks btw bro!

  • @vanarp -- the info icon reveals the version, small description and the contact info . .

when you say Category post , do you mean something like that you can bookmark and any activity hapenning to that post will be notified to you ?

Very soon will release the iOS version as well ..

  • Looks cool... I say why limit it to LEB/LET... open it up to feeding it any RSS feed :)

  • ATHKATHK Member

@pubcrawler then it would be like any other RSS feeder out in the wild :)

  • Well wider exposure if it handles any feed.

Actually, as far as I am aware, SQLite has absolutely no issue with read operations - it's the (absence of) write locks that make it go slow when you do a lot of write operations.

  • That is totally cool... Just installed it and works perfect..

iOS version for Lowendapp is ready and its working perfectly on the simulator but am not at all sure how to generate/distribute the ipa or the app file for the iOS devices ..

I don't have Apple's Developer Certificate and I tried http://oneiros.altervista.org/jailcoder/ .. but no success as it throws me the error "CodeSign error: code signing is required for product type 'Application' in SDK 'iOS 6.1' ..

Not sure ... how to distribute the iOS ver :( .. any clues??

@fresher_06 afaik you need to buy the apple license, 199 a year or so? and then you can publish

I know that it costs $99 . but i believe . there must be a way to distribute the iOS apps .. may be for the jailbroken devices at least .

  • Waiting for the iOS version. Really love the idea.

ghost, just app without source ? no thanks :) that's not how low end spirit work

  • iOS ver is now ready to download at http://lowendapp.com .. its works fine on the simulator .. but please try it on the device and let me know if you find any issues..

  • have anybody tried the iOS version ?? let me know your inputs ..

  • How do you install it? lol I don't think you can install AppSync with iOS 6 Jailbreak and I don't trust other things entirely.

  • @David_P -- sorry but I don't have any iOS device however I have tested it on an iOS emulator and it worked perfectly fine

  • does anybody has successfully be able to install it over any iOS device??

  • Seen the recent changes in the LowendTalk .. i believe I need to change the look and feel of my Android App at lowendapp.com .. let me know your thoughts ...

  • @Liam .. can u PM me the error which you are getting .. i will try to work on it .. I have tested it on Android 4.1 Successfully..

  • @Liam -- seems to had some error in which the headers were not getting set for the ".apk" file downloads..thats why while installing the error must be coming as "problem Parsing the package".. I have fixed that .. please check now and let me know if you find any other issues.

**The .apk file is totally fine , the error was just in the way the .apk file was served by the Web Server..
