Question about GRE tunnels

I'm a little bit confused on how GRE tunnels work:

Say you have person A at ip 1.2.3.4

They connect to something through a GRE tunnel that exists at 5.6.7.8

When the packets hit the final destination host, would they be seen as coming from 1.2.3.4 or 5.6.7.8?

Comments

  • As I remember, with 1.2.3.4, but when I setup'd GRE on other server it was 5.6.7.8 (same with iptables packets redirect)

  • I never understand the gre tunnel works too, for me reverse proxy is way more easy to setup & customize

    What about UDP?
