    Who are you affing for?

Let's see, $5/mo, 3164 signups, 90% cancel after first month...you made about a thousand bucks?

    Gosh, you're a baller.

In super simple ENGLISH for a person who wants to bring people to ENGLISH hosting sites:

You BROUGHT 3164 people. The host makes about $15820 a month (assuming everyone gets a $5/month VPS). You want 25%+, so the host loses $3955 to you.

@raindog308 is (basically) saying that they're not getting any legitimate (real) customers from your referrals. In other words, they're losing money to you.

Me poor at Ganglish also. Debian works best.
    Debian thx.

Still $11865 more than without him.

I offer standard commission of 15%, I have gone as high as 20% for longer term or higher volume affiliates not using rock bottom discount codes on purchases.

My point was that this "achievement" is the same as working at McDonald's for a month.

But the overall problem is that you only care about the percentage. If I was a crappy host offering a 50% commission, you'd pick it over a great host offering 5%. You care about making money, not truly connecting people with good hosts.

I have hosts on my vpsadvice.com site that don't pay affiliates, because I don't do it for the money (though of course if there is an affil program, I link with that). You would never recommend a host that doesn't pay you, and hence, what value do you provide? You're just parasitically marketing.

Can you even name reasons why someone would pick DO over Vultur or Linode over Bandwagonhost?

Because I am a chinese`````maybe you know we have fucking GFW, it causes us can`t use facebook and google.maybe you say we can use public vpn,but big brother is always wathing us,so some people like build a vpn by themselves. Thats why i can do aff, because so many people need vps in china. Bandwagonhost is popular because it supports alipay(chinese paypal, most chinese dont have crediet card),linode is popular because it is quickly. That is most important reason.

For the "achievement" , you are true, i just dont know what vocabular i should use, maybe "data" is better?

At least, for american this is a little money, but for chinese is so much!

To afford VPS you may need a small loan of a million dollars but that's all

  • There are a lot of websites teaching people how to install shadowsocks to bypass GFW.

Providers would love this group of customer because:

    • Install shadowsocks only
    • Low traffic and low cpu, low IO
    • Almost no support needed
    • Very likely they would buy another for their friends

Providers would refuse this group of customer because:

    • Don't know how to secure their box
    • Would use dispute as refund, not their fault, they were misleaded
    • If price is too cheap and support alipay, may get DDOS
    • They ran and leave you like the tides

We could do 20% at Clouvider. Let me know if you're interested :-).

  • shovenoseshovenose Member, Host Rep

I only offer 10% but plans start at $200... So that's better than 25% on a $7 VPS. LOL
