Looking for an Australian host
I have been looking around a while now for an Australian provider that has servers in the near Sydney area (including MEL and QT). I am looking for the following specs:
KVM or OpenVZ
RAM: Anything including or above 256MB
Bandwidth: 200GB+
IPv4 Enabled
HDD: Above 20GB
LEB pricing
Comments
Not going to happen.
You're really looking at $30+(at least) a month for that.
You can always try something west-coastish. We have a few Oceanic clients and they claim to have a good ping.

These are the cheapest Australian VPSes I know:
http://www.exigent.com.au/hosting/vps-starter-pricing.php
http://www.ransomit.com.au/leb_offer
I have no personal experience with either, so don't take this as a recommendation.
That looks exactly like what I was looking for. I know you have not bought anything from them but do you happen to know where their test IP's are?
Just a heads up, there was recently some reviews of exigent.com.au on here, and from what I have seen I am not sure I would do business with them:
avoid-exigent-at-all-costs-au
I see... Ransom IT is probably looking the best right now though they don't have any plans that match mine for a LEB price...
How much data is going in vs. going out?
Not going to meet you on LEB pricing for so much data but I can probably at least quote you on a custom plan...
Also Adelaide isn't in the Sydney area but it's worth a try. :-D
Your Adelaide ping is better than some sydney locations so that would be great . It would probably be 50/50 on the outgoing and incoming as I would probably set up a caching server on it.
Emailed. :-)
i think for an Australian provider is @trewq. you can ask him..
Thanks for the mention but while we are an Australian business we do not currently have servers in Australia. All of our servers are located in Dallas, Texas.
I've used Exigent. It was shit.
Kangaroo bandwidth is so expensive :-.
Bamp.
Looking for something in this location, smaller spec's tho
128-256MB
5GB Disk
100GB transfer
Post your offers
You could try our San Diego location. It is in West Coast USA so it would make sense!
@shovenose West Coast USA != Australia
@RobertClarke I don't see why it wouldn't work. Heck, one of our biggest web hosting customers is from Australia and they're on a server at Hivelocity in Florida and they are pleased with the performance!
@shovenose
I am looking for Australia, not USA, not EU. If i was then why would i be posting in a thread titeled "looking for an Australian host"
Nobody forces you to choose a provider. But sometimes a variety of alternative choices can be helpful.
@shovenose
The thing is, Australia is on a different continent.
How about Austria?
It's not in Australia, but it's only an "al" away!
@texteditor, check IRC frequently.
I really should
@shovenose He is looking for Australia, your option isn't an option if it's not in Australia. It's pretty black and white...
Come on ladies, let's not get into a squabble.
You can try RansomIT (@Oliver) or ZettaGrid
I've gone with Ransom IT, will review later.
The owner of that company makes his staff work too hard.
@Oliver
Lies, it's just me who wants something magical for a penny
