Hello,

I have some idea for people that have low speed internet and was to see movies in HD.

Ok so if you have low speed internet this is for you!

You most have server (Prefer windows)
Youtube

Ok so you can download the movie in the server then use googlehangout and youtube to stream it :)
As you know youtube has good connection to everyplace in the world

So this is just small tip :D you can do it with VPS but make sure you have high speed on the VPS most providers will offer you shared connection this isnt good you need dedicated or port limit.

    Huh?

Are you talking about downloading a movie to a Windows VPS, starting a Google hangout with your slow internet at home, then invite an account from your Windows VPS to the hangout and stream the video from the VPS during screenshare?

Would still probably lag like mad.

No. For one thing, it certainly wouldn't be very HD after you filtered it through all those layers. For another thing, it's just not worth the trouble. Go to the movie theater, buy it on DVD, or just wait while uTorrent pirates it (because we all know that's what you're doing).

  • Does the Windows VPS have autoboot?

Take all the time/money wasted on this and buy a better internet connection. Can't get better internet where you live? Move.

Asia got bad internet? No problem, move to America. Shovehost CEO will pay airfare and relocation cost.

  • @dosserversca said: why you need autobot?

You need to add this feature to make the HD experience better.

  • Where do you live OP? While not all the world has reliable or fast internet, it does appear most developed countries do.

I mean, Tonga even has DSL now.

    Just encode it properly?

You'd be surprised the quality you can get while going low with the bitrate from x264 with the right config :)

    What did i just read...

Okay i get the concept, but You could just download it to Linux VPS, convert it to lower quality video using ffmpeg and then download the lower quality version from the VPS, You'll have at home a video that's not HD.

Or You could just adjust bandwidth quota for downloading the video at home and leave it download over night - full HD.

haha. i can just upload the torrent to XunLei and watch it online.

  • IvanIvan Member

Wait. What? Dude. This is so wrong in many ways.
First off, if you have slow internet, there's no way to speed things up. Second, YouTube doesn't have streaming any higher than 360p.
Third, video call/live streaming isn't ideal for any sorts of movie watching.

I don't know how to give a specific conclusion to this, but trust me, it won't work out.
If you're talking about streaming pirated movies, etc, you can just download the torrent and leave it downloading for a day or so, but the best thing is when you're out of home, you can leave it downloading, and when you're back home and you want to use your computer, you can pause the downloading since I believe torrents usually take like 98% of your internet's speed. Then repeat again until the download is complete, and you can watch it fully without any buffering. I think that's a better idea than what OP stated.

We all know you're talking about porn.

  • @teohkay said: YouTube doesn't have streaming any higher than 360p.

480p/720p/1080p/4K.... all available in YouTube, i stream everything in 720p and higher only.

  • RophRoph Member

I think he means the google hangout livestreaming, not youtube videos.

  • Just use subsonic?

  • We'll most peo buffering ple who have sl buffering ow intern buffering et usually to buffering o slow to eve buffering n use yo buffer ur meth buffering od.
