GoDaddy, 1and1 although both sucks but they do offer cheap .com for first year.
Hostpapa.com is currently having a $1 domain registration or transfer promo. I just registered one domain yesterday.
https://www.namecheap.com/domains/ sometimes has offers that can't be refused (domains for 0.15 cents for first year). However you need to wait for their sales.

Also tried contacting Live Chat. The support guy says he doesn't know anything & advise me to use correct data where the data is already correct !
You should try Godaddy or 1and1, they both have 99 cent coupon for domains .COM, however this discount will be applied for new fresh account only. Just try them all.

DomComp is good as far as it goes, but it's geared towards affiliate income, which is understandable (you gotta monetize some way), but totally not compatible with occasional domain promos.
