Need Windows VPS for Applications
Every since I made my switch from Windows 8 to Ubuntu, I have started to realise that there are some Windows only programs that I need. What I think is the best idea, is to rent a VPS dedicated to running my Windows only applications. I am not really sure what specs I would need to achieve good performance running a few GUI applications, so I am also looking for a provider to recommend some VPS plans that would work well.
I have a fairly flexible price range, though I would like to keep it in the LEB range.

VirtualBox?
UK - 512mb ram /20gb hd raid1 / 500gb bw / $7
Can I have this too, next month maybe?
Exactly. Why would someone want to pay monthly to run Windows desktop apps with all the Internet latency when they can just run a Virtualbox VM on their Ubuntu machine?
@raindog308 Access anywhere anytime
Exactly that, I will be able to access it on my Mac or any PC wherever I am.
Thats why I move my laptop wherever I am :P
@DewlanceVPS
Does that space exclude the actual windows install? Seeing as with updates, a standard win2k8 r2 install is just about 15-17GB
No, Windows 2008 R2 OS use 5GB to 7GB disk space and you will get 6 to 7GB Free Space.
@DewlanceVPS
Must be some sorft sorcery you are using then. lol.
@Noerman depends if we run the promotion, but there is a better deal that should come up on LEB soon
@alterarch
dallas and chicago.
dir/s/a of \Windows shows:
Total Files Listed:
78155 File(s) 18,955,393,602 bytes
I'd love to know how to get that down to 5GB
18,955,393,602 bytes = 1.68GB
You are using a Windows 2003?
@DewlanceVPS
Try again.
17.65GB
Try again.
17.65GB
You are correct, Seems I am weak in Mathematics.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2008#System_requirements says that Windows Server 2008 R2 needs a min of 32GB space
@blergh_ if the guy just wants to run apps, why not sell him a single user login instead of the vps? @alterach it's not like you're storing sensitive data, right?
Sorry if this is what you're already talking about.
@nutjub
I have no use for it, so it doesn't really matter to me.
