false triggering of ddos protection

kimfastkimfast Member

Today I ordered a vps service from a provider (A BigShot With DDOS protection). I am having strange experience, As usual i tried to benchmark the vps using benchmark script and immediately I got a mail about ddos attack being detected and traffic being filtered.

Did my actions trigger the false alarm or a legitimate attacked originating from elsewhere?

I have used this script to benchmark my dedi's and never faced a situation like this,
Please share yours , I am rookie and my experience and knowledge are limited.

    You mean OVH.

They have a problem currently: https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/1757793/#Comment_1757793

The bandwidth limiting got broken, so if you download something the transfer speed ends up being way too high for your plan, and the resulting high packet rate is detected as DDOS by their system. "Solution": do not download anything at high speeds for the time being.

Shut the front door! It's not possible for OVH to have problems! They're the best provider on the planet!

  • Is it just me that would like these providers to offer servers with both SSD and HDD in the same server (E.g SSD for OS/frequently accessed data, HDD for storage)

https://www.nocix.net/dedicated/ has some servers like that.

But I have no idea why did you post that in this particular thread.
