if you want to go deep get the book that linus used to learn and code linux on his amstrad MC68000 using assembly (tanenbaum operating systems)

Don't even try because after 5 years you'll realize that you actually don't know shit. If you're persistent and keep trying, after another 5 years you'll realize you REALLY don't know shit because deeper you dig into this stuff, more you begin to discover holes in your knowledge aka what else you need to learn. Wanting to become "expert" in Linux is for people who actually LOVE this and have no agenda behind it. You can't do it for the money kid, you'll only get burned that way.

There's a lot of misinformation and weird make-work suggested on forums. I think understanding how it works and being able to differentiate good and bad ideas is vital if you actually want to be considered an expert.
