Cloudflare wildcard dns oddity

Ask for just the A record and it returns the correct address. Ask for a MX record for the same name and it returns the wildcard CNAME record. Then ask for the A record again and you just get the wildcard CNAME record again until the TTL on the CNAME record expires.
