Pretty much every registrar had dead-cheap .in domains last year, but now the cheapest I've seen is ~$11
I've seen one for ~$4 just now
But the one i had a domain with before were really great, and support was really nice

It might be Namecheap, they had .in at $2.48 last year.
Wasn't namecheap
Isn't there some tool where i can check the old whois records of a domain?

http://who.is/domain-history
Only works if they have it archived. Otherwise, you could use DomainTools but it isn't free.
Weren't they resellerclub based providers offering them cheap?
i know one which sells for 2 $
I know one that gives you it for free if your an indian resident lol.
Are you talking about googles and hostgators(india get business online) little website? their webhosting is not good and they wont allow people to use the domain freely..like config name servers etc...
I have used them and found them to be useless for me..just as my friend told me it would be.
Can you tell me which one that is?
Care to share?
Yes,why not
Its http://www.crazydomains.in/
.in at 2 $ and .com at 3 $ . They were giving .asia for free some months ago and i took one and i still have it..
Using them too, in fact I have transfered a domain (.net) to and from crazydomains without any issues or hassle whatsoever. But they have expensive whois privacy, so wouldn't recommend for long-term use.
@rahulks
Found it as well, thanks. The only drawback for me is they don't offer whois privacy on .in domains. It may be the TLD's policy.
Wow, really, that is cheap!! how do you guy's find these deal??
@earl
One of my facebook friend told me about "them giving 1 .asia domain" for free and i registered one and hence i saw the price written on the welcome page
Once i come to the paypal gateway i need to pay $39 :O!
awesome.. so are renewals the same price? are they safe to use?
Hmm.. maybe I got my answer!!
also they are using a self sign certificate for the checkout, I guess they can't afford to pay for SSL cert..
@earl not sure about that because my free .asia domain has not expired, still use it..when it dies i will buys a .com from them.
Somewhere else where the .in domains are cheap? not going to pay $39 for 3 years

They have a different price in USD.
Looks like .in domains are not cheap actually.

99 rupees is $1.82
i know but switch to USD on their site!
Might be getting one with namecheap with free whois (always usefull)
Anyone knows a site where i can get it cheaper?
They are a bit more troubles for me since several times my transaction was blocked due to fraud and even after I sent them copies of my ID I still get those blocked. OK if it is a transfer but terrible if you are trying to register a new domain before everyone else does
Whoisguard won't work on .in domains. It's a tld restriction.
Registered at namecheap :-)
I got a free .asia from them ;>
Me too :P
