My Review 1 - RamNode.com VPS - 1024MB SVZ
Hi,
I have some spare time and would like to provide all my reviews on the VPS that I have bought from LET started from Year 2015. It is my humble to provide only the HONEST reviews to all the LET members here.
Proof of Order:
Pro: - Very stable and reliable network and good performance - No downtime after 100 days with them - Support Team is knowledgeable and know what they are doing - Fast response on all Ticket - Can be use in production environment by deploying mission critical application - Good value for money Con: - Not willing to increase the SWAP memory upon request (I have another 128MB BACKUP VPS with them. Unfortunately, they ask me to upgrade to higher plan)
Below are the performance test:

So benchmarks are reviews now?
Yes, I will just provide the speedtest and benchmark for references only.
There's not much more to say about Ramnode other than a "They're great for me too".
They always place highly on the year end provider ratings. Keep up the good work Nick.
Pretty shit con to be honest.. I wouldnt even call that a con, I'd call it business sense..
@Stiny
Totally agree with you. Ramnode, please keep up the good work.
@ATHK
To be fair, since I have 2 units of VPS which was running in Ramnode.com. I need a Production and BACKUP Server running in Secure environment.
This is good enough to create a mirror for the 2 VPS. So, I don't lost anything if there are any failure to the Production VPS. I still can recover from my BACKUP VPS.
In the beginning, I was not able to "compile" the Let's Encrypt SSL Certificate due to insufficient memory with 128MB RAM. Hence, I open a ticket to RamNode. But the support team ask me to look for higher plan without providing sufficient SWAP file for me to compile it.
After searching from the internet, I found the solutions and I able to "compile" and Let's Encrypt SSL certificate without problem. There are 2 method you can solved the problem.
Copy the letsencrypt library from another working server
https://github.com/letsencrypt/letsencrypt/issues/1081
Limit the Memory usage if you have lessees than 128MB RAM
ulimit -v 1210000
cd /root/letsencrypt
./letsencrypt-auto --text --agree-tos --email .......
Both method above work flawlessly. Thanks you to Let's Encrypt team by providing such a great Free SSL Cert.
Was went into the same issue with installing letsencrypt on low ram box. But soon epel-repo has included the bin version.
@david_W
Thanks you for your command. I should try in future. At the moment, I was compiling using the python
Definitely will try this in future.
yum -y install epel-release yum -y install letsencrypt
Thanks You.
Could you qualify the pros and cons please?
@Nekki
Reviews. Back then and today. Compare and spot the differences.
No, that's not qualification.
For the pros:
Network performance/stability; facts and figures - what sort of network performance did you experience regularly, how did speeds look at different times of day, how regularly did you test? A single test is almost completely useless as a point of reference, so I'm assuming you tested this regularly and can comment further.
Support team is knowledgeable: knowledgeable about what? What sort of queries did you raise, how were you judging their answers? How often did you raise queries?
Fast response on all tickets: quantify your idea of fast; we all have different ideas of what fast means in a LE support scenario.
Can be used in production: you REALLY need to qualify this; what does a production environment look like to you and WHY were you happy to use Ramnode for this purpose. What facilities do they offer than makes them suitable for your use case.
Good value for money: compared to what?
Unwilling to increase swap: why is this seen as a con? Is this something offered by other providers regularly?
Basically, I can see you're trying to be helpful by posting a review, but what you've posted so far is so anecdotal in nature it's actually of very little use to anyone.
@Nekki
Basically, this is the review on the VPS server that I have bought from LET. I am satisfy with what I have purchased. I am not the only person who will rate for Ramnode in terms of performance and stability. If you are one of their customer and you will also experience the same if there are using the Premium Plan.
For Support team, there have answered my question correctly. Hence, I will said it is knowledgeable.
Can be use in Production mean you are safe to deploy your applications in the server rather than just for development or testing environment.
I was using Digital Ocean for the past 3 years before knowing lowendtalk.com, hence if you want me to compare the value for money, you can compare to Digital Ocean. The package that I use is
Yearly cost $240 compare to Ramnode $81 (bought last year on Black Friday with 25% discount)
It is fine as I have solved the problem even without increasing the swap in my BACKUP VPS.
This post is for REFERENCES ONLY. You should try others Provider too as I have many VPS now such as
I give up, no idea why I bother.
