Need Iran-friendly VPS providers

YXpdYXpd Member
edited April 2016 in Help

We shall deliver service to foreigners in Iran, while VPS should be located outside of Iran. From our side, it's just basically known that Iran's international Internet bandwidth is quite limited and could easily congested, yet no further detail. Because not every provider could offer available looking-glass, I need your help.

I just only tested AS12880 partially, but the route seems really unstable and usually assigned randomly via France/Germany/Netherlands. My target is a datacenter near Iran with latency less than 100ms, such as Romania/Russia/Ukraine etc... The demand is 256M RAM/10G HDD at least, no matter OVZ or KVM, less than 10 USD per month.

If you got any recommendation/further detail/alternative solution, please feel free to share or PM me. BTW I don't know Arabic.

Example Test IP Range: 5.74.0.0/17

Why would someone assume that you know Arabic?

  • First, Iran speaks Persian (Farsi)...

Iran's int'l connection speed is severe limited by Iranian gov... from news, seems to be 128 Kbps for home BB subscribers.

Also, hard to get <100ms. Since their main transits are in Germany...

  • Turkey?

  • YXpd said: YXpd

Russia most friendly to Iran. No one bother you about location.

Any way to work around it ? I see they have Azerbaijan/Turkish/Oman transit, not just from Europe.

No. It's going to go via Frankfurt, and then Oman Telecom, via takes the long Netherlands route.

Well, yes, with Delta Telecom peer. But with the test IP the person gave on original post, it took Oman Telecom route via Amsterdam.

Well, IRANet is just an education network, not residential ISP...

It is just similar to NORDUNet, AARNet, Internet2, etc...

You should get a host in Azerbaijan on AS29049 (delta-telecom.net). They have a straight interconnection with AS12880.

Since Azerbaijan applies censorship on the network, I'd recommend establishing a VPN connection with a host in Germany since AS29049 is present on the DECIX.

You can expect a RTT of 100ms.

Is there any Iran VPS(Russia-friendly) available to foreign buyers? Perhaps I should just get one to proxy/cache. I saw many of them require Iranian bank account and typically charges 20USD+. Really frustrating. ╮(╯▽╰)╭

  • @YXpd where are you from?
From Iran you can get around 90-150ms latency to European countries specifically Germany, UK and Netherlands. Latency to Russia and Asia isn't good.
In Iran you can get up to 50Mbps DL from a Cat4 LTE mobile connection so it's not capped at 128Kbps ;-)

There is another cable which is shorter than the Moscow route via AZ, there are also sea cables connecting to other ME countries within a few 10ms.

Speed via Rostelecom is also shit to unusable depending on time of day, at least via ITC.

Dude, we talking about VPS, not about how fast your local mobile provider you use, why you stick to them?

There also political side on this treat, isn't?

I know, it was from a LeaseWeb reseller.

Mobile network = Datacenter = Government.

Welcome in Iran, you should have known this already. All traffic goes through a very limited amount of ISPs for central censorship.

Did not follow you, you need Iranian VPS for outside Iran or Russian VPS for use in Iran?

If I cannot get a decent VPS near Iran, in my opinion, a VPS in Iran could be an alternative option as long as I can find an affordable one.

Chill out, my kind friend! I think most of people in this post want to find a way to cover as many ISP in Iran as we could, while a plan only to serve several ISP clients especially without AS12880 ITC deserves re-estimation somehow. And as I know Irancell indeed provides better international connection than ITC to some extend, appreciate your share.

There is another cable which is shorter than the Moscow route via AZ, there are also sea cables connecting to other ME countries within a few 10ms.

Speed via Rostelecom is also shit to unusable depending on time of day, at least via ITC.

We still get enough patience to make things work, right? More details about these routes and their datacenter/providers in ME countries? Do you mind of divulging some? BTW to leave aside politics is good for us. ^_^

What censorship meant to you? No Coca Cola on near supermarket? Or no porn channels on local TV? :) You country still standing up on your region.

If about ME region, try Nashirnet in Saudi Arabia
