I upload my screenshots/records to my personal server and use h5ai's index(restricted) but I would like to have additional functionalities such to upload/manage files in the browser itself and preferably open source and not nodejs based on.
I would personally avoid file managers running on http or https.
They don't have to be bad. It's good for ease-of-use. (Just look at cPanel's file manager. Tons of people use it) He's probably looking for some type of gallery script to make it easy to organize screenshots, view them, etc.
I use Sprut at their shared-hosting (Beget) occasionally, it also available as self-hosted application to my knowledge https://github.com/LTD-Beget/sprutio

Unable to test their demo for some reason + it seems to be based on docker. I am running my box on lowendbox and it's running ajenti, would like to have it standalone.

Why everybody is uploading their screenshots somewhere else for backup?
Not backup, but to share with people. I also occasionally report game(Dota2 primarily) bugs, so it's nice to have it on the on a separate space.

SFTP
He wants to do it from the browser.
...or more specifically FileZilla.

You can.
Nice. Care to answer the question now?

Extplorer is good . however its complete file manager .
I seem to recall doing this with Konqueror.
Are you open to paid options or only free?
You can write some super simple PHP script with in minutes to upload things.
old man php file navigator 2?
I concur with the recommendation of SFTP, but if you're set on a browser-based manager, I've heard some good things about elFinder.
Here's a demo url for the nightly: http://hypweb.net/elFinder-nightly/demo/2.1/

Something like owncloud? Bit more than just a file manager, but gives you more control over sharing e.t.c

Alfresco
Try net2ftp
You can try http://extplorer.sourceforge.net/
Webmin have a file manager as well
Found this beautiful file manager(http://angular-filemanager.zendelsolutions.com/) but then again it was built on NodeJS.
Already running Ajenti, so running another panel solely for it would be redundant.
I've found simple scripts but since I might have the page shared with my team, it would be nice to have it intuitive.
Only if they are in LET price range.
This was my alternative after having looked at Angular File Manager but I always appreciate newer frameworks and minimal design.
Could you kindly give me some more info on it?

Have a look at it: https://github.com/broncowdd/BoZoN
Or you can simply proceed with OwnCloud as you want to do sharing.
