Looking for New York VPS

Definitely not LEB pricing, but 6sync.com is in New Jersey. Yeah, I can read a map and that's not New York, but it's only 11 miles outside NYC. One of the best VPS providers I ever used.

256 RAM + 15GB disk will cost you $15/mo there, though.

Where are your facilities and is the datacentre any good?

Our virtualization platform operates from the TelX facility in New Jersey, just 11 miles outside of New York City. This is a world-class standalone facility with redundant everything and has been SAS 70 Type-II audited.

    What is your network mix?

We use premium New York City bandwidth provided by Level 3, AboveNet, and BandCon. NYC is one of the most connected places on the planet and thus have great connections right around the world, particularly for East Coast USA and Western European consumers.

Are you sure? I currently have a VPS with 6sync and the ping is around 10MS, which indicates New York City. The traceroutes for my IP concur. The only problem with them is the IPs are SWIPed to NZ, which is annoying for GeoIP and stuff like that.

No not 100% sure but that's what their FAQ says.

  • @Bubka3 One word of advice, if you are asking for help, be nice, nobody here is obliged to provide you anything.

And on your thread title, you only mentioned NY, not NYC, you might want to change your thread title as well to make sure it says NYC and put no Colocrossing on the title as well.

    Just my 2 cents.

TIL you can tell the location of a server via one ICMP round trip n1 mayne

  • @Damian said: Guys,

I found this free tool that helps me find things on the Internet. It's called "Google"; it was named from a child's root word so it's a somewhat goofy name but it works extremely well.

Like I said, completely free. You can check it out here: https://www.google.com/

It'll never catch on. Webcrawler has the market cornered.

    I thought it was AltaVista?

  • Webcrawler is even older. Someone's going to start talking about Archie and Veronica though, and we'll have to get the defibrillator ready in case grandpa has a heart attack.

DigitalOcean is great. If you want a test IP just ping solusvm.shovenet.com

Prior to the invention of DNS in1982, finding things on the Internet was a whole lot simpler. Every Internet-connected computer was listed in the local hosts.txt file you maintained...

The person talking about Archie, Veronica, and Jughead would probably be me since I'm the one who announced plans to launch the first LEB gopher summerhost service :P

  • @Bubka3 said: I am looking for a New York VPS

WOULD A VPS IN BUFFALO BE GOOD FOR YOU?

  • @Spirit said: Check recent LEB offer: http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/kazila-7month-512mb-kvmxen-vps-in-new-york-dallas-los-angeles/ (I am not their client, just suggestion)

@Bubka3 said: They are doing some weird routing right now. I am in NY but they route through Chicago...

I'd recommend Kazila. I've got a VPS at their New York location, located at 121 Varick St in Manhattan. I haven't noticed any strange routing myself. It might be worth it to contact them to see what's going on.

  • @david said: It might be worth it to contact them to see what's going on

Other than I'm pretty sure datacenters cannot control incoming routes, I'm not an active customer so it would be point less imo.

    That. Is. AWESOME!

  • I think because the OP has been such a dick, we should just list everything that isn't in New York for him. Maybe he will get so mad his head will explode and he won't be able to come back here to call us all morons. You know, cause that really makes people want to help... calling them morons and stupid and such...It defiantly motivates me! (To not try to contribute anything helpful what-so-ever)

  • @Bubka3 considering most LEB hosts use the same colo facilities, perhaps https://www.google.com/search?q=new+york+vps+hosting&oq=new+york+vps+hosting is a better starting point for you.

    Did you Ask Jeeves?
