In these days when a lot of scammers earning on human naivety and unfortunately not science, I think VPN is the best solution is to hide identity on the Internet.
I usually use my own VPN server(s) but then again I'm not using it to hide my identity but rather I dislike the idea of everything going over the air in cleartext whenever I use a public Wi-Fi Network (which is a lot)
Ditto, self-hosted. I love to be able to have full control over the things I use and I don't have much trust for VPN providers; with my self-hosted VPN I know that I'm not logging
Hosting your own is easy and much cheaper than a commercial solution. However, which is better depends on what you want to achieve. A commercial provider will potentially give you a measure of anonymity - assuming they're a good one. (I recommend proxy.sh) Running your own will potentially give you some privacy. Decide on your threat model before you make a choice.
The way I look at it, I like to get a little privacy and not reveal my browsing history and IP locally, so I use a VPN all the time on my main desktop. When I want anonymity I just use the Tor Browser. That won't cost you anything. But remember to not use it with the VPN unless you're prepared to work out exactly what's happening when you do that.
Running own is easy enough and a cheap solution. If you need multiple locations I've used EarthVPN and VPN.sh. EarthVPN was very reliable, they claim "no logs" but I'd research that claim further if it's important to you.
VPN.sh was great for a while, but then the service just quit working for a few months. I believe the owner has promised to turn things around.
Buy VPS in your country (to have good pings if you are gamer and to avoid other unpleasant things), use this command on server: wget git.io/vpn --no-check-certificate -O openvpn-install.sh; bash openvpn-install.sh
Then install Tomato/OpenWRT/DDWRT on your router, set-up the OpenVPN client. Go to heaven.

I am using https://solidtunnel.com for more than 1 year, pretty good. Previously I used StrongVPN.
I self-host everything, VPN, etc
Also, make sure that you only use that server for VPN.
I have used Astrill VPN and it was fantastic.
Currently using VPN.sh and it is good as I use it rarely.

Just create your own Private VPN for 2 bucks that may lost long and give you some control over it
I know, but i will not use my web server space for it.
Sorry I don't understand
I say, that I will not use my hdd on my server where my web pages are hosted. My 6 websites need all that hdd i have.
Just get an NAT box from http://lowendspirit.com the location you prefer then use this guide (not finished yet) for installation https://wiki.simonindia.xyz/doku.php?id=setting_up_vpn_on_nat_vps
Sorry dude, I have mixed your response to my recent two threads. Seems like I'm probably exhausted for the today.
No problemo
Take care ☺
