VPS for Gmod

Hi Guys,

I'm after a VPS for hosting a small Gmod server on, I currently have it on 2.4ghz and often find it maxed out :'(

I'm looking for something with a cpu offering 3+ ghz core.

Location: UK/EU

Cheers.

  • I think OVH offers those kind of cores. Not sure though.

  • OVH VPS SSD 3
I've ran lots of gmod servers on it and if you choose the location closest to you, it's usually pretty responsive.

  • OVH SSD is 2.4ghz, that is what I have currently. I don't think gmod can use more than one core :(

GMod likes to Abuse CPU Cores, so if you take a provider make sure you get a Dedi or a VPS with a dedicated core.
Also high CPU Bench per Core and Clock speed, since its still single threaded like 1000 Bench should be good.

400 Bench for a Single core like Intel Atom is just crap for GMod.

  • Neoon can you suggest a good CPU? to seek?

We are hearing good things in general about single core performance from our clients using E3-1240 v5's (3.5ghz/3.9ghz).

If possible get an E3 instead of an E5.

    Like: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+E3-1225+V2+@+3.20GHz&id=1485

Go and check: Single Thread Rating: 1898 which is pretty good in this case.

    But 1000 should be enought.

  • What about something like this?

    Only 35-45 Euro

  • We can offer this in the UK. We host a few Gmod servers across various servers. Please contact live chat on http://hostingspecialists.co.uk.

Do you use these across your VPS range?

    Hello,

You should really take the dedicated server option into consideration (if you want something more efficient).

I took two minutes to google it, 3ghz processor is recommanded, it seems e3 1230 is a good choice.

I did google, there was a wall of text with each post contradicting the previous post.
