    Freaked out as I got a downtime email from Nodequry. But seems just some normal OVH downtime. mine seems back up.

    3rd party leak, they reacted pretty quickly to shutdown the AS from routing on their network.

    So, basically one of their peers in Franfurt, AS31500, started announcing the entire Internet through their network.

    They cut their BGP sessions with this peer and working to prevent any similar problems caused by human errors in the future.

    Hello,
    We just have a routing problem which
    impacted 75% of our traffic. The origin of the problem
    has been fixed and we are finished
    manage the incident.

    The origin of the problem comes from a peering point
    DECIX in Frankfurt where one of the networks we AS31500
    announced via BGP "all Internet". It's a
    handling error which happens quite often
    and we have protection mechanisms for
    filter what kind of human error. Except that
    mechanism has not been placed on the connection
    with this network there. One forgets to us at
    migration Recently routers in Europe. We
    looking when this error crept
    in our configurations. The result: 75% of our
    traffic has been sucked by the network, through
    Frankfurt and that caused a failure. We have
    cut the BGP session with the AS and we
    stabilized routing.

    Sorry for this failure. It is

    BGP configurations on all our routers
    and avoid this kind of forget.

    This BGP incidents are annoying. They knock almost everything out. OVH has a filter but didn't apply it. Lazy guys.

    I did a traceroute during it and saw traffic routing from BHS to Russia and back to N. America before finally going to Texas.

    It was glorious.

    Did you hear GVH has acquired OVH? Ocatve just couldn't resist Jonathan's $7 offer LET special! What's more Jonathan can run Windows on OpenVZ = FATALITY! Now I'm waiting 'til phase7 will acquire Hetzner. Monkey year! :-)))
