[Help] smartctl Kimsufi

Hello
Just got a Kimsufi server and the smartctl shows:

Should I be worried on the Pre-fail flag ?

Thank you.

  • A brand new hdd :)

  • Nope. That is a brand new drive with 21 hours on it and zero errors.

OVH swapped my drive with yours so please let them know to fix the issue.

But this only happened if you have a ks2 with 2TB drive.

  • 'Pre-fail' and 'old age' are always there - they are just indicators of what that particular line gives you a warning of. I.e. Only worry if the values on the lines with pre-fail start creeping up :)

Always keep an eye on "Reallocated_Sector_Ct" and "Offline_Uncorrectable". The other values are not (too) important for drive health.

Pre_fail simply tells you that if those attributes starting going up, your disk is dying. The actual values are what you want to look at. What you posted is a brand new drive in good condition.
