US Dedicated Server Recommendations

Hello,
I need a US Dedicated Server.
I am currently with ovh but I am unable to use the service as I like.

I ordered US based IP addresses.
I created a pfsense openvpn connection and connected. I was able to stream netflix, but unable to stream amazon prime.

I am guessing it is because amazon does a more detailed trace of the IP address.

I tried openvpn via vultr servers in NY and amazon prime worked.

So, I need a US dedicated Server.
This will be for production.
Will create 6-7 VPS

around $80.00 per month or less.

Recommendations
US location
production level server
DDOS protected network

    Delimiter @MarkTurner

Scratch that, missed the DDoS requirement, sorry!

  • Delimiter as well.

I wasn't aware they had DDoS protection :(

Appreciate the recommendation guys, unfortunately not a good fit unless you consider null routes DDoS protection - also prefer keeping DDoS magnets off our network :)

  • I am not a DDOS magnet.
I only host regular websites. I've been with kimufi since june without any issues.

However, about 2 years again I switched to servermania vps. as soon as I used servermania vps I was ddosed. Within a week or two.

I had no idea what was going on.

    It happened again after that.

I think it was my ip address on that particular providor.

That's why I'm changing to a dedicated server. I am hoping to not have any issues.

We don't host forums or game servers etc.

I understand the idea is you can attract DDOS however, I didn't. We are a small business that was just bombarded out of nowhere.

I'm talking a few wordpress sites and CRMs. Also, not sure if using the webuzzo panel had anything to do with it.

  • Do you have any spec requirements? Bandwidth requirements?

We can do something in Los Angeles for you.

My apologies, didn't mean for that to sound accusatory. It's just usually when someone asks for DDoS-protected services they're expecting to be hit in the future.

What sort of specs are you looking for in terms of CPU, storage?

    Thanked by 1sysamy
  • I got stuff in LA if needed

  • Honestly, I am winging it. I am no expert.
I don't know what specs I need. I just want it to work and be reliable.

We are moving our internal servers to the cloud and I just want it to work and be reliable.

    What I need is:
Host less than 10 VPS. I tried proxmox and virtualizor. Virtualizor seems easier to use, so possibly use that.

We will host 1 pbx (piaf)
    Odoo ERP
Webserver with centos web panel or virtualmin (hosting about 10 - 15 websites mainly wordpress)
    fileserver
open vpn or pfsense server so we can connect to US streaming services when we are overseas.
    owncloud fileserver

So I don't know what we'll need exactly.

As far as bandwith, There will only be about 4 - 5 people using it in a small business.

The only thing that could determine bandwith is streaming netflix/amazon through the vpn.

  • I should have said, I would rather a server on the east coast. We are going to europe and the closest location to the US is the east coast.

    Consider psychz's ashburn location

You haven't listed a storage requirement, so if it's not that high then I would look at an SSD for virtualization.

    What we could do:

    Dual L5630 - HP SL170s
    24GB Ram
    2TB HDD or 120GB SSD (+$20 for 250GB SSD)
    20TB BW @ 1Gbps
    /29 IPv4
    $49/month

    E3-1225v3
    8GB Ram (+$10 for 16GB, +$20 for 32GB)
    1TB HDD or 120GB SSD (+$20 for 250GB SSD/+$5 for 2TB HDD)
    100Mbps unmetered
    /29 IPv4
    $39/month

Location: East Coast (Atlanta, GA) with good connectivity to Europe.

    Can spec/price/order here: https://cc.delimiter.com/cart/dedicated-servers/

    EDIT: Again, not DDoS-protected

We do have in Dallas and LA with 20Gbps DDoS Mitigation Dual L5630 32GB RAM 2x 1TB 15TB @ 1Gbps port speed $65 per month

    Pm me if you interesting.

East coast would be @QPS or @Ernie both offer significant bang for your buck and are always willing to work with you

    Thanked by 2CrusialLG qps
  • We run a premium network, have a look at our LEB specials: http://banners.quadranet.com/lowendbox/index.html

PM me if you're interested in any and I'll get you set up with DDoS protection as per your requirement. We just announced our DDoS protection today "QuadraNet Vest" and released our new control panel NEO where clients can submit tickets, manage devices, pay invoices, view DDoS attack details, null/un-null IP addresses on demand, reinstall servers automatically, and more.

We got some nice promos in our Ashburn, VA location. Let me know if you're interested ;)

  • Ok, like I said, I'm no expert.

What should I be looking for when choosing a server?
There are so many different types, Xeon, E3 etc.
    Dual vs single etc.

The price points are from $39 - $109

But how do I know what I need. I don't want to over buy or under buy.

This is for a small business.

Not a lot of traffic or overhead.
    Need low latency for pbx
    need good speed for webserver
the CRM/ERP does hog resources but I think 2GB-4GB ram will work.

Like I said, we are small.

What specs do you suggest? Processors, RAM etc
    Thank you

Errm. Well, you see, that's like asking us whether you want to buy a car/truck/monster truck/train/airplane/jumbo jet, when all you want to do is drive it...

Perhaps a managed service would be the best bet for you.

Buying a chair will probably do more in the long run if you try to contact Virtualizor support.
