Hi Let,

I'm looking for a VPS i can use to do some intensive data processing,
i would need it for about 1h/day, 6h/week.

The best VPS i found so far is Vultr Dedicated Instance (which seems to be runnng E3 3.60Ghz processor), which works well, but available
instances being located in Japan, the latency & troughput are not great.

looking for following specs:
CPU: 1 fast core i can use 100% for up to 2h
Disk: 30GB
Traffic: 100GB
Memory: 1GB
Budget: similar
Location: EU/US
Budget: $0.089 per hour or less
Payment by paypal prefered

Any suggestion ?

Thanks

We have Flexible instances on Luna Node in Toronto where you are billed based on the amount of CPU that you use. So you can provision the VM and then keep it around, and you'll be charged based on CPU usage; or you can provision it only when you need it.

We have this plan with a $0.007/hr base cost (excluding bandwidth and CPU):

    • 2048 MB RAM
    • 2x virtual core (flexible)
    • 40 GB storage

CPU is billed at $0.0222/core/hour, proportionally to the usage of the CPU core. For example, if you use 100% of both cores for two hours, it is $0.0444, but if you use 50% CPU average over two hours, then it is $0.0222. If you mostly idle around, say <1%, then the charge is <$0.0003/hr.

Bandwidth is $0.003/GB. For 100 GB usage, it is $0.30 total.

Flexible plan CPU is a Xeon L5639. But larger plans with more cores are also available and still in your price point (of course, this won't help if your application is single-threaded).

    See https://wiki.lunanode.com/index.php/Flexible_plans for details.

  • Hey @mokafu,
We bill per hour on our custom platform, pricing starts at £0.004 per hour hosted in Coventry, United Kingdom.

For the specifications you're requesting, our 'Advanced Cloud' fits the requirements, 2 vCPU E5-2620, 2048MB Memory, 40GB Pure SSD Disk, 3TB Bandwidth 1000Mbit/s.

Just a note, as it's not common knowledge, the first additional IP Address is free, anything after that is billed £0.002 per hour.

    Minimum deposit amount is £2.50.

    Any questions, let me know.

    Yes it's in Sanjose.

CPU more powerful than E5 is a little hard to find I think, considering his demands.

  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Finally i selected OVH Public cloud, as it allowed me to spin up instance in US & EU with up to 32 dedicated fast cores.

  • Thanks @bersy for the link.

Got in touch with @Verelox, that kindly provided a free trial which worked out well.
They offered me a custom plan that perfectly fit my needs.
