2) HYNIX HMT31GR7CFR4A-H9 8GB 2Rx4 DDR3 PC3L-10600 1333MHz ECC

3) HP 500205-371 MICRON MT36JSZF1G72PZ 8GB DDR3 PC3-10600 ECC

i have all this tipe of ram installed in 3 differents node (144 gb /node) but i can see any diference ... so any ideea ?

if you know any difference let me know and post it in this thread

Thanks in advance

Diferent brands and diferent country made ...

  • They are all good.

But speed wise they're all the same I mean. I would prefer Samsung RAM since I've always used that, and I'd never use anything made by HP.

Forgot to mention the node is hp proliant , maybe hp+hp ram is better ? how i can test ?

  • I'd personally go with Samsung. But hp one is also fine for me. Performance-wise I see no different.

Why wouldn't you use anything HP?

It doesn't really matter, as long as

    • They've got the same timings and clock speed

    • They're dual ranked (both sites contain IC's)

In case of gaming, 1333 C9 can be about ~10% slower than 2400 C10. idk about virtualization.

Btw, could you please have a look at Ticket #324068 ? ;D

I've just never had good experiences with HP stuff, nor have most people I know. Although to be fair I've never used their server-grade stuff.

  • Id go with HP honestly everything I use is HP, in my opinion HP is quality.

Oh, in which case I agree. HP laptop/PC/printers are absolute dog shit based on my previous experience but server grade tends to be good. I prefer and use dell but wouldn't mind using HP if required.

You can't just say [insert hardware company] is Quality, every single one of them produced some shit in history. Especially HP isn't really know for good Notebooks:

Have used a couple of their business "Elitebooks" over the years which were pretty good, someone summed it up good with; "It's so robust, you can kill thief's with that thing"

i have use last year +400 servers HP . NO One , but NO ONE with problems ... so for my opinion ever will be a + for hp

  • The cheapest one! This is LET right?

    Hi cociu,

They are all Dual Rank PC3-10600 with same CL So that mean they all will give you exactly same performance.

For quality there is no quality in ram as long as they are same specs there is no difference and I have never seen any ram model lately that does not have lifetime warranty ( i am talking about retail ram)

But there is one big difference that you should consider

the first 2 models (Samsung and Hynix) are 1.35V while the last one (HP) is 1.50V

So if your motherboard accept the 1.35v i would go with it as you will save few watts of power per server using them (if you pay your power bill for many servers it could make a difference)

but check first if your motherboard is ok with the 1.35v as if the motherboard is too old it wont work (not sure if you will fry the module never tried)

    Thanks

HP is rated a tad slower that the others but I would double check with the motherboard doc's which DIMM's are listed as compatible/recommended.

If you use HP I would stick with HP RAM but that could just be my OCD side.

If you use HP Proliant I'd recommend sticking to HP.

Well, HP doesn't manufacture RAM anyway, they are all from third-party manufacturers (Samsung/Hynix/Nanya and probably others), just that they are certified to be compatible with the machine. You may, at times use non-HP certified memory modules on HP machines, but depending on models some can be quite picky about what goes into the chassis.

Yes, this is my experience as well.

HP laptops/desktops/PCs/etc. are the WORST. Poorly designed, cheap components, stupid decisions, corners cut, absolute race to the bottom. There is no one who makes worse end user gear than HP.

However, their serves are OK. Their storage is OK. Their switches are OK. None of them are very exciting or innovative but they're OK.

HP the company and HP the people are both laughably pathetic. I assume HPE will continue to be the EDS-derived Brotherhood of the Clueless. HP (the hardware people) will probably continue to slide towards the bottom...it's not like they have a strategy for owning the x86 market other than "we have big factories and are at the same price".

Actually HP is pretty good compared to Dell/IBM/SM - SM has too much exploits and unstable IPMI for my liking, Dell has DRAC which says enough already (and something died in me when they started to sell Tyan boards) and IBM is just IBM.

My experience is the fastest clock is better, however you need to consider the brand. Samsung is the biggest brand in the list. Typically "cheap" brands produce fault or error filled RAM. You get what you pay for in terms of brand.

  • cociu said: Diferent brands and diferent country made ...

Worthless. They are, for all that matters, 100% the exact same hardware chip wise - only controllers differ minorly. The chips come from China anyway.
