Yeah, my facebook account is only ever accessed via a VPS (which is only ever used for those stupid companies who decide facebook is the only way to contact them, or enter a contest, or something).

I think his question is not that bad. I know a lot of people using their VPS to watch Hulu, Netflix, etc. Why not using it for dataminers like FB too?
Only a Socks Proxy with configured DNS ensures that the whole traffic is going through the VPS. If someone is only using an http proxy all DNS querries and non-http traffic (Flash, Streaming) is using the origin IP and not the one of the http proxy.
