Any good forum softwares?
I'm looking for a lightweight forum software, such as Vanilla. So far, I've tried:
- MyBB
- phpBB
- SMF
- Discourse (not exactly lightweight)
- Vanilla
Anything else good out there with at least a decent (responsive) theme, functionalities, and support? It doesn't need to be a forum software either, can be something that can act like a message board.
Thanks guys..and girls.

i used smf for over 2years , and it was quit good .
Check out NodeBB.
Flarum looks nice, but does not display correctly for me after installing.
PunBB
in my opinion i like vbb but its not free, otherwise phpbb is great for free
Try Flarum.
Not sure if you would call xenforo light but its nice and efficient but costly.
I tried NodeBB in 2013 and liked it. I'm sure it has improved much since.
Esotalk
just looked up what forum software is used my LES forum found this
http://fluxbb.org/
What I will not recommended.
Discourse, good but not light, high resource demond.
Nodebb, maybe I just can not handle node.js
Flarum, prospective but still in a beta version and need more time to develop
I know you already tried it but I'm going to Say MyBB.
Its extremely flexible.
Its fairly easy to setup.
Works well on scale-able
Vanilla ftw
phpbb
