Nameservers and DNS

Hello everybody.

I have a quick question, I'm wondering whether I'm doing it right or not. Since I'll have to wait a little due to propagation, I decided to ask this first.

I'm using internetbs as registrar. I want to use my own nameservers and followed the route below.

1-) Create/Update nameserver

2-) DNS Management

3-) Update DNS List (I entered the nameservers that I created at the first step)

As a last step, I created records using bind (basically followed the same settings that I entered for "DNS Management" option above) and waiting right now. Am I doing it right? I'm kinda confused with this "DNS List". Whose DNS is that? My dedicated server provider also sent me the details like this, what does it mean? Do I need to change these to my nameservers or not touch it at all? Is it something like Google DNS I use on my computer?

Main Server IP Address: 255.255.255.255

DNS1: 208.67.222.222

DNS2: 208.67.220.220

DNS1 and DNS2 are listed on "nameservers" section as "DNS nameserver" of my hosting control panel, I have to remove these and add the ones I've created, right?

  • The dedicated provider is just giving you OpenDNS for resolving domains on your server. So when you type in 'ping lowendtalk.com' on your server it'll use OpenDNS to resolve Google.com to an IP. I typically use Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)

  • Remove your ip(if it's actual) or some lowendhole will down your server.
