Yes, it is dead.
install and run this http://www.hdsentinel.com/ then do a screenshot
You forgot to mention how old is the HDD
that would not matter much (Unless it was a seagate drive)
Do you have any SMART info for the drive? I like CrystalDiskInfo on windows!
did you try connecting the disk with another usb cable? many a time the cable is the culprit
@noaman, if it is the "MyBook" configuration, you may have to remove the drive from the case and test it directly using a USB caddy or external drive kit.
I have personally had to do recoveries from a few MyBooks where the supporting electronics in the case failed, but the drive was actually OK. Evidently this happens quite a bit (based on various online posts).
For disassembly, the key point is to slide the "spine" or casing away from the internals after using a small screwdriver to pry them apart.
its my passport 830
will update the thread with the screenshot as requested
I will install the software crystal info disk and I bought it 2014
possible to get the drive out of its enclosure? a direct SATA connection will give you a lto more info.
@tehdan...going to try that...j
(sorry read your comment above as /not/ going to try that... good luck )
It is not old but sometimes the mecanical parts quickly fail.
You can try to get the drive out but it seems dead.
You can check the warranty and try get another one from the store you bought it or send it back to the factory.

@tehdan
How to remove it?
That looks a bit like water damage to me, has it even had water spilled on or near it?
nops...
Wipe with zero(Low level Format) try
@w3e4r5
Also How to convert it into internal HDD?
@tehdan
I dont think you can
No need for this, he can simply run a scan on the disk
Take it out the case. and put it into a sata port in the PC

What exactly do you think someone would learn by looking at those pictures?
@Ole_Jull That it's an actual usb hard drive - not a sata drive in an enclosure with a sata-Ian adapter?
I'm sorry, @noaman - like others here I've not seen such a device. It's just possible one of the other connectors will give you a sata connection - have you googled the part no etc?
On 1st picture, can you delete the partition using menu by mouse right click? Further create partition on whole disk, format, and set a letter.
Mate, that looks like a heap of water damage. No chance of fixing that.
Thanks
