Frequently Asked Questions +

Q. Where are your servers located?
A. Our servers are co-located inside Continuum Data Centers in Lombard, IL (outside of Chicago).

Q. Can you provide test IP and file?
A. You can ping or traceroute to our test IP: 64.79.109.254 Please contact us and we will provide you with one.

Q. Are there any backups in place?
A. We use RAID 10 on all of our VPS nodes, this protects your VPS in case of a hard drive failure on our nodes. Please remember that this does not protect against data loss due to user error (such as deleting files by accident). We strongly encourage our customers to keep offsite backups of their VPS servers, we cannot be held responsible for any data loss due to user error.

Q. Which OSes are available?

A. As we use OpenVZ for our virtualization technology, you can install the most common flavors of Linux. The list below, on our website page, and our order form is not complete and is just some of the popular OSes that our customers choose. Once inside of our VPS control panel, you have many more options and can rreinstall your VPS at your command. If you have a OpenVZ template of your own and would like us to add it to our list, just contact us.

Here are some popular Linux distros available:

CentOS 5/6 (32 & 64 Bit)
Debian 5/6 (32 & 64 Bit)
Ubuntu 10.104/11.10/12.10 (32 & 64 Bit)
Fedora 16/17 (32 & 64 Bit)
OpenSUSE 12.2 (32 & 64 Bit)
Q. Are there any control panels available?

A. Yes, we offer several control panel options such as cPanel (separate license required), DirectAdmin ($6/mo), ISPConfig (Free), Kloxo (Free) and we can usually install any other control panel desired (Best effort basis).

Don't worry, it's not in your favourite Colocrossing but as it seems Continuum Data Center.
    Refreshing, isn't it? :)

  • Continuum? Yucky!!

Care to share why, and preferably somewhere else - not spamming someone else's offers.

  • Hardly spamming, Infinity. My opinion of Continuum is pertinent because the offer is based out of that datacenter. It is reasonable to believe that the quality of service delivered by RackFlux will be, at least partially, effected by their upstream. In this case Continuum has a very poor reputation and is known for consistent quality of service problems (countless outages, see the WHT outages forum).

Continuum has had some hiccups in the past, but they have been nothing but stellar to us. Their past problems have long since been rectified and they even recently added two of UbiquityServer's upstreams into their network (nLayer & PacketExchange). We've seen greatly increased performance such as download speeds and latency. They have not had any outages in a long time now.

  • Zack, our definition of "long time" differs. A few months without an outage is nothing impressive. Especially when that period of outages was weekly, multi-hour events and lasted months. It's going to be years until someone can put a positive spin on Continuum's track record.

  • I've been using Continuum for the past 4 months without any network issues and their support is second to none.
