Because currency exchange rates are constantly changing?
And because each business has a right to set whatever pricing policy they want.
At least in the EU, it's not always like that.
Same with SoYouStart. I have paid $49 (US/CA site) for a server which costs €35 (~<$40, on FR site) for nearly 2 years, but too lazy to switch :-)
I think a lot of people in U.S. prefer to billed in dollars, in fact, they prefer it so much that they are willing to pay more.
There is no problem having different prices at different outlets, even in the same currency. You'll pay more for Coca Cola if you buy it from a vending machine at a prime location than if you buy it from a gas station.
Additional rules to divide the market can create a legal conundrum though -- for example, if Coca Cola tried to restrict sales at gas stations to persons who arrived in a vehicle, and require pedestrians to buy at vending machines, that might be a problem.
If you're buying in the UK though, remember to add +20% VAT
So many things at play here, I don't understand how anyone can attempt to answer this question..
Exchange rate
Land costs
Electric costs
And the rest..
It's different per country and per size of DC..
well I don't think I'd need to add VAT if I live in Australia
I think we're talking about the servers of the same kind with the same specs in the same DC being order-able from different language versions of OVHs site ...
And the UK version also tells you when the last server was delivered, while the U.S. version does not ...
Actually, while both pages have Canada and France flags, when you click through on the UK version, it doesn't let you choose the DC (you must agree to "fastest delivery time in Europe") Also, the models in stock on the U.S. site does not show as available on the UK version.
So, at the present time, one cannot get BHS servers at a discount by ordering through UK site ...
For that game server, the difference was about 30%, between the .ie server and the .us one .. (yes, exact same machine in same DC)
is UK version diff than ireland? i was able to choose between canada and france, also, the US version had it as out of stock, but not .ie
