Did cPanel actually buy WHMCS or are they just partnering up sort of thing?
Who's to say it was a VB exploit? Could of been a brute force.
Partner.

I doubt even WHMCS is that stupid.
I think they have bought them in full.
And that's why I don't use WHMCS.
Because a team of people can hack vBulletin?

Not really, one man with a server can do it. Quite simple VB had a exploit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LlKaYyJxH7E
then: http://packetstormsecurity.org/files/118703/vBulletin-3.x-4.x-AjaxReg-SQL-Injection.html
code: http://pastebin.com/LWszXeYG
That is not a exploit to deface it or anything, but its a exploit to gain passwords.
@jarland
Because WHMCS doesn't meet my requirements and I don't want my CC number leaked like before.
Wow.. the hate on WHMCS, these days.
Because WHMCS doesn't meet my requirements and I don't want my CC number leaked like before.
Noone wants their CC # leaked without them knowing.. but WHMCS let everyone know the issue. All it takes is one call to your CC issuer for a new card/number.
I don't blame him, we threw out WHMCS too when it happened. It wasn't that it happened that got me so much as that they kept restoring the same stupid backups and kept accepting orders.
With that said, I'm confident in them moving forward and I use their product. If I lose that confidence tomorrow, I'm not afraid to fall back to an excel spreadsheet. I'm really good at repetitive tasks
Ha Ha Ha. No.
I'd be damned if some retarded dev's idiocy got my cc leaked and then I had to get a new one and update it everywhere.
Yea I'm not really with you on this because I elect for my CC # to NOT be saved anywhere at anytime.
Same as @Corey, pay and delete. Even with PayPal, I used it to verify when it asked and removed it.
Amazon's Mechanical Turk - the 21st Century Billing Solution.
They really need to get better protection against hackers :-/
I had to get my card re-issued with the WHMCS attack, however we still use them. IMO there isn't a good competitor, at least there wasn't IMO back then.
I wish i would have seen it for myself. lame..
I do imagine that they really wouldn't take security lightly after their first major hack.
