Multiple VPS or one Dedicated (with ProxMox or ESXi)?

Hi,

I currently have a few VPS servers, but most of the time I don't need them always, I thought about getting one dedicated server and installing ESXi or ProxMox on it and then install the VMs as I need them. I'm looking for the most cost effective solution.

What are your thoughts about that? What do you think it's more cost effective?

I was thinking like this:
Multiple VPS from different providers is more safe than one dedicated server running multiple VMs in case of a hardware failure, network availability, etc.

Please share some info about your vote if you can/want.

Thanks for your opinion!

  • 1 dedicated and vps/ auto backup

  • Depends on a lot of things, but if you can handle everything being in a single location then I would opt for a single dedicated server with a good provider.

I prefer Proxmox personally, it's pretty simple to setup and manage your VMs.
