Dedicated server or KVM vps

Looking for a dedicated server (preferred) or a KVM vps with following specs:

250 GB HDD or 120 GB SSD

100mbit unmetered unshared or 10 TB @ 1gbps

4 GB ram

Under $15-$20 per month ideally

Location doesn't matter, prefer outside US/UK/CA but open to all offers. Will be paying up-front for 3-6 months in advance.

Unshared on dedicated, shared 1gbps on VPS if using VPS.

  • I'd prefer reputable businesses to send offers, not un-registered, no-ssl businesses / businesses that are younger than 6 months.

  • Dedicated servers are always the way to go, bandwidth cannot be unshared on a vps.

That doesn't really make sense, if you look at how companies like Online setup their servers they seem to have a little Cisco switch in the rack and hang 20 servers off a single switch with a single uplink. (This is based on the photos of their racks).

So assuming each server has 200Mbps 'guaranteed' then thats 4Gbps of contention on a single GE uplink.

All thats happened is that rather than contending the customer traffic on the server with a 'virtual switch/bridge' the sharing is pushed out to an external switch.

It comes down to how the VPS or dedicated server provider is actually running/architecting their network.

This particular deal is in France (OVH-RBX4). Let me know if you require a test IP. Here's a benchmark from a similar specification:

    [root@test ~]# wget freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null|bash
CPU model : Common KVM processor
    Number of cores : 4
    CPU frequency : 2666.666 MHz
Total amount of ram : 1839 MB
Total amount of swap : MB
    System uptime : 0 min,

Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 5.13MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 3.88MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 3.52MB/s

If 100GB SSD is OK, take a look at Hetzner VPS. Bandwidth is 8TB, but additional traffic is available - €1.40 per TB.

If I connect my nodes with 10Gbit/s and sell VPS with port limit of 100MbpsI can sell 99 VMs with unshared bandwidth, can't I ?
