Consumer protection

Which authority has competence in webhosting / VPS products?

Comments

  • What?

There is no consumer commission in VPS/Webhosting, lol. As with most non-physical online products...

  • There should be a supervisor, because there is real money in it.

  • The consumer protection bureau in your own country. Whatever it is called there.

Let me put it like this, there is local authorities to contact if the company is actually a company. However, the best form of protection for consumers is to not buy stuff from a 17 year old kid who makes outrageous offers that nobody can sustain. The start of protecting yourself is to make smarter decisions.

    Sound fair?

The local trading standards agency is about as close as you will get.

Do some background on the company, read some reviews and use your gut instinct.

  • You are your own best protection. Do your research.

Don't expect the government to protect you from every bad company out there. Expecting that is like walking in front of a moving car and expecting the government to protect you.
