Is Runabove abandoned?

Looks like OVH launched own cloud with a new GRA location.
Also Runabove staff said that RunAbove is being re-positionned as Labs.
Is it safe to use RunAbove for production?

If the definition of "production" is "I will lose money when doesn't work", the answer to your question is NO: Runabove has no SLA; nothing is guaranteed.
Nevertheless, it is backed by a solid company and the hardware is new, so it is certainly better than other low end offers. OVH never promoted Runabove as a "production" service, It is like a Kimsufi, for VPS.

Looks like only OVH cloud includes SLA

Sandbox has local storage, if it fails no backups, no SLA.

Other Packages on RunAbove do have SLA.

  • My Sandbox 4GB KVM is still going good.

That said, I am wanting to move over to the OVH public cloud as soon as they begin offering it in the UK, only though if it has OpenStack interface access.

    They provide OpenStack https://horizon.cloud.ovh.net/
but I do not know where can I get login and password.

OpenStack is superb platform, like it much more than S3.

Ok. Just created a user and accessed OpenStack interface.

  • @Gulf are you able to create snapshots? If so, what's the pricing?

I use only Object Storage, but I attached some screenshots. Also I find GRA location much faster than SBG.

    GRA

    SBG

I think OVH Cloud is the next step. They fixed here all bugs I found in RunAbove.

Completely migrated from RunAbove to OVH. Tuned, created PHP wrapper around OVH api and everything works! Thank you Octave!

  • Runabove includes SLA as well:

(personal experience: 1 year, 100% uptime, good performances)

How is private networking on OVH? Is it limited to 100mbps like their public network ports? Still pay per hour?

100mbps is kind of a deal breaker to me.

  • Don't Buy in Runabove........Suspension without Activation. A Company without SLA.

    No, they offer 250mbps https://www.ovh.com/fr/cloud/instances/
Plus via control panel you can order lower end vps from 5 euro like on the screenshot above.

I think OVH cloud is oriented on business client, so the price list is higher than RunAbove.

I feel they stopped runabove development and moved to OVH Cloud, that means OVH cloud is headliner now.

I use only Object Storage, like Amazon S3. As a heavy S3 user I can say OpenStack is absolutely another level of experience than Amazon S3. Tons of cool features that I can't find in S3.
