    Run Hijackthis ->http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/

    This is the probram for doing exactly what you need.

  • Yeah well disable Java too then in the meantime. Runs like crap anyways and how many things do you really use that require java in the browser.

  • @kbeezie for a start , with Linux (any flavor) he wont face reported issues . Its just the change in thought and perception of that switch, which are the most difficult.

    1. Remove EVERY anti-virus and anti-spyware application you have (yes, I'm serious - they will interfere with each other).
    2. Install Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware.
    3. Run SuperAntiSpyware first (full scan), then run Avast (full scan).
    4. Remove anything it points out.
    5. It should now be gone permanently.

    Note that, while booting into safe mode is possible, it's most likely not required for this particular bit of malware. If the above fails, try to do it again, but in safe mode.

    EDIT: Be sure to install the free versions of both. You do not need the paid versions.

  • @gameon it's a hard call to make without knowing every single task he uses his computer for. For example I'll use FreeBSD and Linux for servers, but I prefer OSX and Windows for desktops.

  • @kbeezie Agree with you on that one. but yeah worth a try to Lure into Linux clan ;)

  • @gameon though I would suggest something like Linux Mint, clean simple, doesn't have all that extra crap Ubuntu been coming out with lately (mainly because the core Ubuntu package is usually what's recommended).

    I actually have my spare HP dual-boot setup with linux mint, just in case windows decides to have a brain fart and no longer wants to start up.

    For a desktop as a sysadmin/developer I prefer OSX first, linux secondly, windows third, mainly due to the already-present CLI tools in them (ssh, network tools etc), already set up to handle paired key authentication etc etc.

    I mean lets face it, if porn is your priority, you can view that in any OS, and any browser should work except with the few sites that were shady to begin with requiring a special plugin just to hi-jack your computer. :P

    @qwerty6666

    It's not a virus.
    It's browser malware, you installed something that dropped a nice plugin into your Internet Explorer.
    Easiest thing to do is ditch Internet Crackxplorer and getting Google chrome or Firefox who have decent plugin managers.
    Also, take a look and see if there is some weird toolbar software in your Windows configuration under Software.

    thank seem to have worked =D

    @qwerty6666 Linux Mint. http://linuxmint.com should be quite a bit faster while still supporting Ubuntu packages.

  • I think you have been attacked by stuxnet.. =D

  • @fway the OP is running industrial equipment?

    yeah i should slow down on my nuclear bomb project =p

  • I am running Norton on Win7 no viruses at all. Of course the best is to use Linux like Ubuntu if you are really scared from viruses :)

  • Common sense though will work better than an OS Choice :D

  • Tried Kaspersky? I got decent result cleaning up a virus from my friends pc.

    iirc he also got his pc infected because he didn't dl the porn "the old fashioned way"
