Ceuservers.net review for 1$ server: First week with excellent service and support
First impressions from CEUservers.net
It has been just a week, but this period is enough for a first attempt to do an initial review about this Czech company selling dedis.
The dedi is their... “free giveaway promo” of 1$ per month! Yes, some very lucky people (like me, this time!) grabbed their advertised promo of 1$ recurring server with those specs:
Intel Celeron G1620
8GB RAM
1x 120GB SSD
100Mbps unmetered
/29 of Ips (5 usable)
Incredible?
Server is located in Czech, in their own datacenter.
I initially ordered the server with debian 7. I later (2 days after) asked them to change it to proxmox bare metal. They fulfill my request in 7 hours!
Their control panel does not offer automatic reinstalls or reboots, so, it has to be done via ticket. Their responses till now are very fast and the responses are very polite and professional, for both technical support and sales/billing.
The server is up for 5 days now without a single hickup and with very good performance. Speed from Czech to Greece are very good :
Download: 40.48 Mbit/s
Upload: 49.65 Mbit/s.
Speeds to closest server are very good:
Testing from CEU Servers s.r.o. (xx.xxx.xx.xxx)...
Selecting best server based on latency...
Hosted by Nej TV a.s. (Prague) [0.00 km]: 10.851 ms
Testing download speed........................................
Download: 91.86 Mbit/s
Testing upload speed..................................................
Upload: 89.76 Mbit/s

I/O speed is as it should be:
dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 4.8697 s, 220 MB/s
I installed already 2 vps there, the additional ips are working like a charm and the first vps (with 10 sites joomla/wp loaded there) has this benchmark (access to 1 core, 1 GB memory, 2 GB swap, 40 GB HDD):
UnixBench score: 1490.0
I/O rate: 243.0 MB/second
Bandwidth rate: 10.9 MB/second
The only thing that I would like to see, is a control panel for reboots / reinstalls, but they say that they offer them 24/7 thru tickets.
I know that the price is not for paying the service, just for opening an active account. This server is for free! If the stability, support and attitude to customers are near close what I experienced at the initial signup and my first week there, CEUservers.net are highly recommended!
The normal prices for servers are not high and, as I saw in their site, are fair enough with /29, ipv6 and options for inmetered bandwidth.
I also know that it is just been 1 week. So, I will keep monitoring closely the service, and will do an update in the near future!

Nice to see, I arrived late and everything was already "given away"
This was a fantastic offer...
I got a pricematched offer, if still someone interested from: https://www.worldstream.nl/more_specialinfo.php?id=3287
Intel Celeron G1620
4GB RAM
1x 500GB HDD
100Mbps with 2TB
/29 of IPv4 and /64 of IPv6
for 8,99Euros and some discussion.
The Support is helpfull and you can talk with them with no issues.
Just drop them a email.
drop who?
I think he means ceuservers. They advertize in WHT that they will do price match to similar servers.
@ehab to [email protected]
Just mention:
"Also, if you have found a cheaper server anywhere on the Internet, provide a link or screenshot of the deal and we will not only price match but even undercut the competition by 10% !"
Yeah seems got late in getting their promo. Also do not follow WHT that much
I also tried to get one, but was late. Oh, well, the 2 Eur a month online.net is lucky enough for me:)
I missed this and online.net .
No it is not - It's FDCs Zlin facility, CEU has some relation to them but neither owns the DC/Building.
I thought that CEU is in direct relationship with FDC and the last one, owned the datacenter. So, they colocate there? It has good connectivity epecially not for a country that has huge peers like France, NL and Germany.
Wow. Its always $1? Or only first month?
What specs do you get from CEU?is it same or better?
I didn't buy one of these because it seemed too good to be true, lol.
and now it feels painful to have missed it.
I was, too, but till now it is! It is very good!
Aw I see in speedtest.net's graph, those specs are for the CEU server
Damn, exactly the location I am looking for. Too bad I missed it.
my question is for the hardware specs
@robohost And my answer, too.
My server has the same specs, except Ram (8GB) and HDD (1x120SSD).Sorry, and the bandwidth: mine is unm.
I think @Infinity580 's other offer from worldstream was Intel Celeron G1620 with 2GB RAM Memory, 500GB HDD and 1 TB Traffic, 1 ipv4 @ 10€ per month.
I send the URI to CEUServers from worldstream offer to get a pricematch which ended in that Specs i posted above.
Will they match my Ikoula 1TB Atom for 5 EUR?
How is the connectivity? So far I am used to utter shit network in Zlín FDC, literally the worst in CZ based on my experience.
EDIT: Nope, they claim that they don't do low end servers.
Honestly, they are a joke.
I showed them the delimitervps offers and they sent me a price match that would cost 100€/m.
I tried what @Infinity580 said above and got this response from CEUServers ..
we do not offer metered traffic sigh....
@FrankZ you need to talk with them, they told me that also before.
Tell them you want that stuff equal that offer. Maybe they are trying to get these people away for 9 bucks and cheaper.
So you need to have discussion with them every month to keep the server? /jk
@DalComp Nope, you take things to seriously.
...right.
The Support seems to be nice but they changed my bandwidth overcharge now 4 times, so i would not recommend them anymore.
From 1EUR for 1TB to 0.60Cents for MB, then back to 1EUR for 1TB, Today to 0,02EUR for GB.
