  • Redstation DC in Hampshire? mhm... I was hoping when you mentioned North East Computer Solutions, you'd be hosting in that Newcastle DC... What is it.. http://www.datacentermap.com/united-kingdom/newcastle/newcastle-data-centre.html

I spoke to somebody from their once, seemed rather cheap too! :)

  • Hi eastonch

I think you probably mean wildcard networks, onyx are not really suitable for this sort of hosting, wildcard (NE5) is probably going to be the next location in the UK.

At the time redstation did seem to be the best option.

  • I have just noticed this was posted in general, sorry about that I have changed it to offers.

  • @necs Ne5 might of been the ones I was thinking of yes.

I'd love to see a provider host in more locations in the UK; rather than the standard Rackspace and Redstation.

I had a Redstation node myself; 128GB 4x 500GB SAS Drives 15K in a raid 10; sold well; performance was amazing; network wasnt so good.

  • @eastonch said: network wasnt so good.

I always found the RedStation network to be solid, aside from them blocking port 25 on there topology, that's just silly.

  • A compromise was made with redstation, we no longer have to use their relays, all email traffic goes out on our own relays now that live outside of redstation.

The network is fairly solid however they do seem to like cheap bandwidth within the UK and unless you make a point of bringing it up they will try to trow your traffic out over talktalk.

All in all redstation was a good choice and I stand by it, within a few months I expect a different location perhaps Newcastle area as that will become a better option.
