How to hide the referrer to a website?

I'm linking to a site on my website and I want to hide the referrer completely so that site can't see where the visitor came from if they came from my site.

Is there a way to blank it completely instead of using a service like anonym.to?

https should not be sending referrers to even the same origin, much less any other domains.

In firefox type 'about:config' in your URL bar.

Search for referrer and change 'network.http.sendRefererHeader; 2'
To 'network.http.sendRefererHeader; 0'

HTTPS will send referrers to other HTTPS URLs, no matter which domain they are on.
but not to HTTP URLs.
