Yes or Iceland for good ping to US and EU. Or Asia/Pacific....

You aren't important enough to observe in the first place.

That's probably just points of presence (network) and not a full datacenter. I doubt they will open a NY DC.

Most traffic to/from Iceland gets routed through the UK. Yes, even US traffic.

  • online.net very quality, but with weak ddos protection.

ovh.com - weird, but with very good ddos protection.

I am the ass who mis-took hertzner for online.net

The remote ssh console is much better at ovh as compared to online. The root password can be easily reset at ovh interface.

Coming to bang or the buck, online provides more space and speed as compared to ovh with no setup fees. This I am talking abt the auction servers. At the same price ovh is offering a 2Tb server whereas online provides 6Tb. So, there you go.

    Online has setup fees...

I think you're thinking of Hetzner.

  • Sorry guys I took hertzner for online. Pro tip - do not post when drunk.

I also prefer OVH in terms of network. I often use it as a proxy because the routing to basically anywhere is just nice. In general I wouldn't use both for serious production use cases I must say.

Depends... I have heard if you get the business level package at Online you get an account manager/support rep who will focus on you and you even get their phone number and email and such.

If it's the OVH brand then I would probably consider that for production. Online is pretty damn good but if I were to go big production and not just hobbyist/few gigs of hosting for a site I'd definitely look into a more premium provider or consider upping the support to business :P
