I had a SL dedicated server. Was pretty poor in terms of value and network performance IMO.

I'd be interested to know how their VPS services are though...

  • Im having two 256mb VPS on CHVPS (via PrivateLayer INC). Uptime of both 62days...
All Tickets has been answered under 30mins... Whats the problem? ;)

Friend of mine had a Softlayer server for a while, I wasn't impressed by either the server or the network. The VPS he has at Hetzner (via RAM Host) now performs much better in terms of network.

EDIT: Hetzner is in Germany, so that's obviously no use if you need a US-based server - but the network was generally better, not just for Europeans.

  • Hawkhost also sells Softlayer VPS as I recall

Indeed, they do. It's not a LEB provider, though.

There won't be many (sustainable) LEB providers at SL - the dedicated servers are expensive and they don't offer colo.

I believe http://www.futurehosting.com/ also offer SL VPS and are pretty cheap.

Why should SoftLayer? Many other providers that also offer good service.

    Telkomsel? image

  • 100TB cloud vps hosting, or quickweb are probrably your best options.

Their is also SSDNodes. But if you choose them your likely to go bankrupt due to their prices.

  • CloudLayer?

  • Ahhh... Remember BroHoster? They were inside SL. (Think they were also UptimeVPS too).

    Don't forget ClubUptime.

  • I think the notorious A7GZ used to offer VPS in Softlayer Chicago as well, but buy from them only if you have too much money and really really desperate for a crappy VPS that does not even work...of course, that is if you actually lucky enough to get a VPS at all...
