The ping used to be around 100mm but from middle of September things changed.
The data goes to US then go back to HK now. Resulting ping and download speed quite bad.
The response from EDIS was quick but it is said I'm the only one who have this problem.
Any body has the same problem?
Comments
Yes in China.
Used to be good. But terrible for now.
Yes, complain at (your branch of) Unicom and Telecom for not peering in HK with our ISP anymore - nothing we can do.
Just did a traceroute and it's the same for me with China Telecom.
if you can PM me your ip, i can try traceroute from Malaysia

Looks like SunnyVision dropped their mainland connectivity, or aren't announcing the Edis prefix to Unicom/Telecom.

Knowing SunnyVision, I'd suspect they have "upgraded" @William
@rds100 said I said crazy! I have no idea what sort of Magic my ISP is doing.
Yes, good luck with that. zero chance.
I am tracing the 2nd IP from the first post, and it's not great from OVH HK either.
(disregard the Loss%, OVH have some crazy packet loss there over IPv4 lately).
158.255.208.1 is OK.
But I think the main problem is the poor connect to China mainland.
What is www.36cloud.com? Can I buy from that website?
@xiaoxian88 - 36cloud is the official cloud service from Sunnyvision. Use at your own risk - read the Hostloc forum you will see what people think of it. It is the worst company to work with, they are not trustworthy.
(As you can see, in this case they have given Edis poor connectivity and kept their own site running well.) You can expect the same to your own VM, as well as days of downtime, limiting, delete without notice/shutdown even when invoice paid etc.
Hongkong's bandwidth is really a problem,Taiwan and Japan maybe better.
hope it gets better
I heard William has some awesome plans for HK, so if those come to fruition it certainly will
Thank you for your advice!
I head many problem with a edis vps before 3-4 months ago. I bought one just for practise. One day worked and one day was down. But i got my money back at the end. I will not recommand this provider.
Problems happen, problems go
Yes... wouldn't recommend them either.
Yea thats right. I forgot to say am a beginner. So maybe i srced something .
Probably not, some locations had pretty heavy problems over time (Sweden server load, HK Network routes/speed, Austria DDoS, Germany packetloss, Switzerland network saturation, US IP Geolocation)
But over time most of them were fixed, exceptions are the packetloss in DE (much better now tho) and the US Geolocation (After all we DO use RIPE IPs, nothing we can do without price increase for ARIN + US company costs or renting US IP space from the DCs) and the still "bad" HK routing to China (datacenters premium pccw bandwidth my ass, routes probably only use HE and HKIX)...
You are working at edis.at ? and you write like that?
And for Sunnyvision, yep, singlehomed HE:
http://zeyuu.net/i/50a54a3c38335689106223.png
While their own ranges are routed by Pacnet:
http://zeyuu.net/i/50a54a55af7f8718866563.png
... no comment.
Yes? Why not? No need to hide problems, everyone has some.
@William - the price is right.
@Mike212
Well at least they're trying to fix it and not trying to hide anything
I had other one and the speed to china really slow.
Yes, routes over Los Angeles, it's simply impossible to provide direct China at this prices (PCCW Charges 90US$ / Mbit for direct China in HK.. that would be 270US$ / TB)
Hi guys! whoever is reading this old thread ... we would like you to know that we took actions regarding all the issues we had in Hong Kong and successfully changed the Hong Kong datacenter today. We are no longer in Kowloon, but in the New Territories now. Premium international bandwidth and direct China connectivity are now available. Please test yourself at http://hk.edis.at
Cheers, Gerhard @ EDIS
