How do I use multiple IPs on VPS?

LemmingLemming Member

There are few VPS offers which come with extra IPs for free or at very low cost. That sounds intriguing, but how exactly do I use the extra IPs? Am on Ubuntu 12 server. I don't want to pay for something I can't use.

Some stuff I'm thinking of doing:
1) Launch separate instances of Firefox so that they use different IPs (I already have LXDE up and running).
2) Run Tinyproxy on different IPs

Thanks

It's very easy to run tinyproxy. Just install and make sure that in the config file you have BindSame yes. This will route incoming & outgoing traffic properly among the ips. Also, make sure you configure the Allow directive properly, so that you don't end up with an open proxy.

  • Thanks, I'll check out the tinyproxy docs.
